Bowline on a Bight
Also known as:Double Bowline

Description
The bowline on a bight creates two fixed, non-slip loops in the middle of a rope without using the ends. It is a versatile midline loop knot that shares the bowline's reliability. Both loops are identical in structure to a standard bowline but share the standing ends.
Common Uses
Used in climbing, rescue, and rigging to create a secure attachment point in the middle of a rope for clipping carabiners or suspending loads.
How to Tie
- 1Form a bight in the middle of the rope.
- 2Tie a loose figure-eight knot with the bight.
- 3Pass the bight around the standing part and back through the figure-eight.
- 4Pull the bight through to form two loops.
- 5Adjust the loops to the desired size.
- 6Pull the standing ends to tighten and dress the knot.
