Fisherman's Knot
Also known as:English Knot

Description
The fisherman's knot joins two ropes by tying an overhand knot in each end around the other rope's standing part. The two overhand knots slide together and lock against each other when tightened. It is compact and works well on slippery cordage.
Common Uses
Popular in fishing for joining leader lines, and in general use for tying together ropes of similar diameter where a compact knot is needed.
How to Tie
- 1Lay the two rope ends parallel, pointing in opposite directions.
- 2Tie an overhand knot in one end, wrapping it around the other rope.
- 3Tie an overhand knot in the second end, wrapping it around the first rope.
- 4Slide the two overhand knots together.
- 5Pull both standing ends to tighten the knots against each other.
- 6Trim any excess tails close to the knot.
