Overhand Loop
Also known as:Angler's Loop

Description
The overhand loop is formed by tying an overhand knot with a bight of rope, creating a fixed loop at the end. It is simple to tie and holds well under moderate loads. This loop is commonly used in fishing because it can be tied quickly even with cold or wet hands.
Common Uses
Used by anglers to create a fixed loop for attaching leaders or hooks, and in general rigging where a small, permanent loop is needed.
How to Tie
- 1Form a bight (folded section) of rope at the desired loop location.
- 2Treat the bight as a single strand and tie an overhand knot.
- 3Pass the bight through the loop and pull the standing end to tighten.
- 4Adjust the loop size before fully setting the knot.
