Flemish Bend

Description
A bend formed by tying a Figure Eight knot in one rope and then threading the second rope through it, following the same path in reverse. Creates a strong, easy-to-inspect connection.
Common Uses
Joining two climbing ropes for rappelling; creating a secure bend where inspection is important.
How to Tie
- 1Tie a Figure Eight knot in one rope end, but do not tighten.
- 2Thread the second rope end through the Figure Eight, following the exact path in reverse.
- 3Ensure the second rope lies neatly alongside the first, with no crossings.
- 4Pull all four ends to tighten. Leave tails of at least 6 inches.
