Description

A decorative knot formed by passing each strand of a multi-strand rope through the bight of the next strand. Often used as the base for a crown knot or manrope knot.

Common Uses

Base for decorative end knots on multi-strand rope; beginning of a manrope knot.

How to Tie

  1. 1Unlay the strands of the rope and arrange them evenly.
  2. 2Take one strand and form a bight. Pass the next strand through this bight.
  3. 3Pass the third strand through the second's bight.
  4. 4Pass the first strand through the third's bight to complete the circle.
  5. 5Pull all strands to tighten evenly.
