Constrictor Knot

Description

A famously tight binding knot that is difficult to untie once tightened. It is formed by tying a clove hitch and then passing the working end under the diagonal crossing.

Common Uses

Temporarily binding objects, hose clamping, whipping rope ends, securing bag necks, and general binding.

How to Tie

  1. 1Wrap the rope around the object to be bound.
  2. 2Cross the working end over the standing part to form a diagonal.
  3. 3Wrap around the object again, passing the working end under the diagonal.
  4. 4Pull both ends to tighten the knot. It will grip tightly and resist loosening.
