Description

A compound knot that creates a mechanical advantage (2:1) for tensioning a line. Uses a loop in the standing part and two half hitches to secure the load. Essential for securing cargo.

How to Tie

  1. 1Tie a loop in the standing part of the rope (using an Alpine Butterfly or overhand loop).
  2. 2Pass the working end around the anchor point (hook, rail) and back through the loop.
  3. 3Pull the working end to tension the rope (the loop acts as a pulley).
  4. 4Secure the working end with two half hitches around the standing part.
