Fixed Overhand Bend
Also known as:Overhand Bend

Description
The fixed overhand bend is a simple method of joining two ropes by tying an overhand knot using both working ends together. It is compact and quick to tie, making it popular in climbing and rescue situations. However, it can roll under load and is not recommended for critical life-safety applications.
Common Uses
Used as a quick bend for webbing or cordage in non-critical applications, and as a backup knot behind other connections.
How to Tie
- 1Lay the two rope ends parallel, pointing in opposite directions.
- 2Grasp both ropes together as if they were a single strand.
- 3Tie an overhand knot using both ropes simultaneously.
- 4Pass the joined bundle through the loop.
- 5Pull all four strands tight to set the knot.
