Running Bowline
Also known as:Slide Bowline

Description
The running bowline combines a bowline knot tied around its own standing part, creating a sliding loop that can tighten or loosen as needed. The fixed bowline loop runs along the rope, allowing the larger loop to constrict around an object. It is self-locking under tension.
Common Uses
Used for lassoing objects, dragging logs, or creating a temporary snare that tightens when pulled. Popular in forestry and maritime work.
How to Tie
- 1Tie a standard bowline at the end of the rope.
- 2Pass the standing part of the rope through the bowline loop.
- 3Pull the bowline along the standing part to adjust the main loop size.
- 4Place the large loop around the target object.
- 5Pull the standing end to constrict the loop around the object.
