Slippery Sheet Bend
Also known as:Slide Sheet Bend

Description
The slippery sheet bend is a variation of the standard sheet bend where the thinner rope is passed back through the knot in a way that creates a quick-release function. It retains the joining capability of the sheet bend but can be undone with a single pull of the free end.
Common Uses
Used when a temporary connection between two ropes is needed that must be quickly released, such as in towing or temporary rigging.
How to Tie
- 1Form a bight in the thicker rope.
- 2Pass the working end of the second rope up through the bight.
- 3Wrap around the standing part of the first rope.
- 4Instead of tucking under its own part, form a bight of the second rope and tuck that through.
- 5Pull the standing ends to tighten, leaving the bight exposed for release.
- 6Pull the free end to instantly release the knot.
