Hunter's Bend

Description

A modern, secure bend made by interlocking two overhand knots tied in each rope. Compact and strong, it sits flatter than the Fisherman's Knot and is easier to untie after loading.

Common Uses

Joining two ropes of similar diameter where a compact, strong bend is needed.

How to Tie

  1. 1Lay the two rope ends alongside each other, overlapping by 8 inches.
  2. 2Tie a loose overhand knot that encircles both ropes, using both ends together.
  3. 3Grasp each standing part and pull in opposite directions to roll the knot into shape.
  4. 4Dress so the two ropes emerge from opposite sides of the knot.
