Highwayman's Hitch

Description
A quick-release hitch that can be untied instantly by pulling the working end. It consists of a bight passed through an overhand loop and secured with a second bight.
Common Uses
Tethering horses, temporary tying where quick release is needed, kayak docking, camping.
How to Tie
- 1Form a loop in the standing part near the anchor point.
- 2Pass a bight of the working end up through the loop from underneath.
- 3Form a smaller bight in the working end and pass it through the first bight.
- 4Push the working end through to lock the two bights together.
- 5Pull the standing end to tighten. Pull the working end to release instantly.
