Carrick Bend
Also known as:Sailor's Breasts

Description
A classic decorative bend used for joining two heavy ropes or hawsers. It is bulky and secure but not suitable for modern synthetic ropes unless seized (tied off).
Common Uses
Joining heavy ropes and hawsers; decorative ropework; traditional sailing applications.
How to Tie
- 1Form a loop in one rope with the working end underneath the standing part.
- 2Pass the second rope's working end under the first rope's working end, then over the first loop.
- 3Weave the second rope alternately over and under the first rope to form an interlocking pattern.
- 4Dress the knot carefully so it lies flat. Pull all four ends to tighten.
