Clove Hitch
Also known as:Builder's Hitch

Description
The clove hitch is a simple and versatile hitch that wraps around an object with two parallel turns, creating a non-slip grip. It can be tied in the middle of a rope or at the end. The knot is easy to tie and adjust but can slip on smooth cylindrical objects.
Common Uses
Commonly used in construction for securing lines to scaffolding, in sailing for fender lines, and in camping for tying ropes to poles or trees.
How to Tie
- 1Wrap the rope around the post or object.
- 2Cross the rope over itself and wrap around the post again.
- 3Pass the working end under the second wrap.
- 4Pull both ends to tighten.
- 5Dress so the two wraps are parallel and snug against the object.
