Rolling Hitch

Description
A hitch used to attach a rope to a cylindrical object where the pull is parallel to the object. Can also be used to transfer load from one part of a line to another.
Common Uses
Attaching a rope to a spar or pole for pulling lengthwise; transferring load between ropes; tensioning a line.
How to Tie
- 1Wrap the working end around the pole or standing part twice, working toward the direction of pull.
- 2Make a third wrap above the first two, crossing over the standing part.
- 3Pass the working end under the third wrap.
- 4Pull to tighten. The knot will grip when pulled in one direction.
