Figure 9 Loop
Also known as:Figure Nine Loop

Description
A stronger alternative to the Figure Eight Loop. The working end makes an extra half-turn before passing back through, creating a shape resembling the number 9. Easier to untie after heavy loading.
Common Uses
Tie-in knot for climbing (alternative to Figure Eight); creating a secure end loop for load-bearing applications.
How to Tie
- 1Form a bight in the rope and tie a loose Figure 8 in the doubled rope.
- 2Give the loop an extra twist to create a Figure 9 shape.
- 3Pass the bight through the top loop from the front.
- 4Pull the bight and the standing ends to tighten. Dress strands neatly.
