Lasso

Description

The lasso is a large sliding loop designed to be thrown over a target and then tightened by pulling the standing end. The loop is formed by a special knot, the honda knot, which allows the rope to slide freely through it while maintaining the loop shape.

Common Uses

Used in ranching and rodeo for roping cattle and horses, and in recreational Western riding and roping practice.

How to Tie

  1. 1Tie a honda knot at one end of the rope to create a small eye.
  2. 2Pass the other end of the rope through the honda to form the large loop.
  3. 3Form a loop at the throwing end for the roper's hand.
  4. 4Coil the remaining rope in the throwing hand.
  5. 5Throw the loop over the target and pull the standing end to tighten.
