Englishman's Loop

Description

A simple fixed end loop formed by tying a figure-eight follow-through. The working end is passed through a figure eight and then follows the same path back, creating a secure end loop.

Common Uses

General purpose fixed end loop where a bulletproof, easy-to-inspect knot is needed.

How to Tie

  1. 1Tie a loose Figure Eight knot near the end of the rope.
  2. 2Pass the working end through the loop of the Figure Eight, following the original path in reverse.
  3. 3Ensure the working end runs parallel to the original rope, with no twists.
  4. 4Pull the standing end and the loop to tighten.
