Multiple Overhand Knot
Also known as:Blood Knot

Description
The multiple overhand knot extends the double overhand concept by adding even more wraps, creating a long, tapered knot. In angling, it is known as the blood knot and is used to join two fishing lines of similar diameter. The wraps create friction that holds the knot together under tension.
Common Uses
Primarily used in fishing to join two lines of similar diameter, and as a decorative or weighted element in other ropework.
How to Tie
- 1Overlap the two ends of rope or line that you want to join.
- 2Wrap one end around the other five to seven times.
- 3Pass the end back between the two lines at the starting point.
- 4Repeat the wrapping process with the opposite end.
- 5Pull both standing ends slowly to draw the wraps together.
- 6Trim the excess ends close to the knot.
