Mixed Knot

Description

The mixed knot is specifically designed to join two ropes of significantly different diameters. It uses a structure that grips the thinner rope with multiple contact points while accommodating the bulk of the thicker rope. The knot prevents the thinner rope from slipping through.

Common Uses

Used in rigging, towing, and industrial applications where ropes of dissimilar sizes must be joined securely.

How to Tie

  1. 1Form a bight in the thicker rope.
  2. 2Pass the thinner rope through the bight and wrap around the thick rope's standing part multiple times.
  3. 3Tuck the thin rope's end back through the wraps.
  4. 4Pull both standing ends to set the knot.
  5. 5Test that the thinner rope is securely gripped.
