Buntline Hitch

Description
A compact, secure hitch for attaching a rope to a ring or hook. It consists of a clove hitch around the standing part with the working end passed through it. Very secure and resistant to shaking loose.
Common Uses
Attaching ropes to rings, hooks, or posts where maximum security is needed; sailing and rigging.
How to Tie
- 1Pass the working end through the ring and around behind the standing part.
- 2Tie a clove hitch around the standing part (two wraps, tuck the end under).
- 3Pull the standing end to tighten the knot against the ring.
- 4The working end should exit alongside the standing part.
