Double Overhand Knot
Also known as:Double Knot

Description
The double overhand knot is a larger and more secure version of the simple overhand knot, created by making an additional wrap before passing the end through. This extra wrap increases the knot's bulk and stopping power. It is significantly harder to jam than a single overhand.
Common Uses
Commonly used as a heavy-duty stopper knot or as a component in climbing systems where extra security is needed.
How to Tie
- 1Form a loop and pass the working end through once.
- 2Wrap the working end around the standing part a second time.
- 3Pass the working end back through the loop.
- 4Pull both ends firmly to dress and set the knot.
- 5Ensure the wraps sit parallel and tidy.
